Accountable Kids is looking for individuals to help out with some of our conferences. If you are located near one of our scheduled events and would like to be considered as an assistant, please send us your contact information along with the event you would like to attend. Helping may be as simple as setting up and taking down a booth in exchange for a pass to the conference. Being involved with your kids is a great way to stay connected. Spending quality time with your children can help them make better decisions, improve self- esteem, and stay connected to you. It is not always easy, but here are ten ways to stay involved.

1) Schedule time for your child. Take time to be committed to a place and time for this event. If your child has earned a special date, set a time and date to enjoy an activity. Spending just ten minutes of quality time can help strengthen relationships.

2) Catch your child doing something right. It is easy to get caught up in pointing out what your child is doing wrong instead of focusing on the positive. Today make a conscious effort to tell your child when they have done something right. Compliments are a great way to build self esteem and encourage the behavior you want to continue.

3) Ask questions. If you want to show your child you are really listening . . .

Several years ago my mom stated that when she died she wanted her three daughters and their families to take some of their inheritance and go on a vacation to celebrate her life. After thinking about this wish she realized that she didn't want to be excluded from the party. She did not want to put off a wonderful experience and miss out on a precious opportunity.
