“This
year we had the privilege of attending your workshop at our local homeschool
convention. It was the best thing I got out of the entire convention. I ordered
the program and couldn't wait to get it. I had faith that it would work for us
and would be the answer to my prayer. I read the accountability book in one
sitting, hung the boards up the wall that night, and got the program running
the next day. Hubby made sure he knew the program for a united effort.
I am happy to tell you that the program has worked its magic. It is not just
another chore chart. I've had all kinds of chore charts, and they've all fallen
by the wayside. This program is easy. It has been so good for us and has
empowered the kids to be responsible in getting things they want after they
finish their "things to do." I don't have to constantly remind the kids what
they have to do because the reminder cards are all up there for them to see and
flip over.
The kids know the value of tickets and privilege passes and how they are earned.
My 6 year old missed a bike ride yesterday since he didn't do his chores in the
morning. He had to learn that lesson the hard way, and that is part of the
learning process. He made sure his evening chores were done so he could get a
ticket for a moon walk with daddy. They get tickets taken away too for bad
behavior like arguing, hitting, quarrelling, lying, and bad manners at the
dinner table. They've received "best behavior tickets" for doing something
commendable. So they've surprisingly been behaving very well at our home.
My 5 year old is really enthusiastic in getting his chores done as soon as he
gets up. He does it quicker than his older brother. They buy their 30 minutes
of an activity like movie time, computer game, scooter ride, and playing with
Legos with a singe ticket. It makes them feel good that they can earn those
activities. It is empowering for them to have control of things they do. I am
so happy I don't have to nag about their chores anymore. My youngest son had a
hard time focusing and getting his chores done at a certain period of time I
have allotted. So out came the timer, for cleaning his bedroom, schoolwork, and
things like that. It helped for him to know how much time is left to finish a
chore or when the 30 minute playtime they earned is over.
I am slowly tweaking the program to their needs and style. The kids can hardly
wait for their special one on one date with daddy after they get their 10
stars. They've got a couple so far. A star is earned at the end of the day if
all 3 sets of chores are done. We are excited to go to the next level and plan
on starting step three this coming week. I have also been picking up stray toys
and things that belong to them, and putting it in the donation box for them to
decide if they want to buy them back with tickets and bonus bucks.
If you need something to run a smoother household and get chores and schoolwork
done efficiently, Accountable Kids is the answer. You can tailor it to your
child's needs. I am a happy customer and wanted to share this good thing with
you.”
